The exercise of placing a head, making it move three dimensionally and making the head move and overlap as I trace and check the proportions, being more careful when I place the marks. Has been helpful.
Along with studying the skull and morphology of my subject, with the surface and how the skin to help articulate correctly for my goal.
You can try it, too, with your own characters to make it move round. Have been keeping it within my own character sheets and refining it.
