As forms of entertainment form, they are categorized into taxonomy and social constructs, then moved and commodified into the market with commercialization.
The reason it persists though, it's the regular kind of recognizability, it was too normalized within its circles, used as a sign of status.
I'm having to use it too, a begrudging concession to SEO, (search engine optimization). It's all a pigeonhole trap though, genres need growth and maturity, it's one of the considerations of the creator. Trying to matter SEO is a game not worth winning a crap shoot.
I'll remove this if they're a sufficient pushback.
