Dokkōdō.
Sometimes looking after one's own business could feel like following a path of aloneness. One of chaste fulfilment that looks into the face to fufill a profession, even one that does not pay. To look ahead with it as a holy choir.
It's the price to pay for a promise that's worth paying for. To show, up again and again, tautological and unpersuasive yes, tethered with the diversions going to and fro.
If this path is embraced, then the only service is to oneself, all this to show care in the commitment. That's what a soloist demonstrates. The duty required, if through a choice.
